About Jesse
My name is Jesse Skinner.
I'm a web developer, author, teacher, speaker, husband and father. I'm a Canadian from Barrie,
Ontario, near Toronto. I live with my wife and son. We love to travel, and regularly visit my wife's
family in Berlin, Germany.
I've been enjoying web development for 25 years. I have a Computer
Science degree from the University of Waterloo. I've worked on a wide variety of projects for many
clients as a self-employed web developer and consultant.
I've always loved to teach. I wrote a book for O'Reilly called
Unobtrusive Ajax. I've taught a number of
programming classes at Georgian College. I've taught and mentored for
Canada Learning Code. I've given a number of talks over the years, including at
FITC in 2004,
The Ajax Experience in 2006, and
Svelte Summit in 2021. I developed a Svelte video course called
The Joy of Svelte. I also enjoy
teaching through my blog, my
YouTube channel, and
sometimes you can find me live coding on
Twitch.
